TPO Thicknesses Available


45-mil, 60-mil, 72-mil or 80-mil TPO membrane TPO membrane is comprised of three layers  a TPO polymer base; a strong, polyester reinforced fabric center (scrim) and a tough, thermoplastic-polyolefin compounded top ply. Because the top ply is the most vital membrane component for long-term weathering characteristics,  Carlisle and Versico manufactures its membranes with an industry leading “thicker” and “smoother” top ply over scrim. The relatively smooth surface produces a total surface fusion weld that creates a consistent, watertight, monolithic roof assembly.

 

TPO Membranes Feature OctaGuard XT


All Carlisle and Versico TPO membranes feature OctaGuard XT a time-tested weathering package that is comprised of eight performance-enhancing ingredients with three heat-stabilizing antioxidants, three UV absorbers that help protect the TPO membranes and dramatically improve their abilitiy to resist deterioration due to the effects of weather.

About TPO:

TPO is a thermoplastic roof membranes, commonly referred to as single-ply membranes, are flexible sheet materials that are used in one-ply or one-layer configurations as flat roof membranes. Thermoplastic roof membranes’ materials’ chemical and physical characteristics allow them to repeatedly soften when heated and harden when cooled. Because of the chemical nature of thermoplastic membranes, thermoplastic membrane sheets typically are seamed by heat-welding with hot air. TPO membranes exhibit positive physical properties, such as heat aging, cold-temperature flexibility, puncture resistance and tear strength. They also are resistant to degradation from exposure to animal fats, some hydrocarbon oils and vegetable oils. They also are resistant to microbial attack and will not support growth of micro-organisms. TPO membrane systems may be specified as ballasted, fully adhered, mechanically attached to an approved substrate or as a protected membrane roof system.

TPO flat roof membrane sheets are commonly available in thicknesses ranging from 45 mils to 80 mils. When any thermoplastic roof membrane sheets are specified, the NRCA (National Roofing Contractors Association) recommends specifying only reinforced sheets for field membrane applications. Reinforced membrane materials should provide optimum service for the main field of a roof, perimeters and most flashings.
